Black sand beach, waves, beautiful snd quiet beach on way to Hana. Access is quite hard but with SUV no problem.
No many tourists
Nice stop while on the road to Hana. It has indoor bathrooms and and spot to park while you stretch and catch a beautiful site.
Black sand beach is lovely. A little tricky to find the entrance off the Hana Highway, and then a short, little rough dirt road but worth it. The protected bay is beautiful with jungle coming right down to the water. Be sure to turn around and check out of fresh water stream that feeds into the Bay. There are no lifeguards, no restrooms, no campsites or picnic benches, no kid stuff and no other services and no cell reception. You are on your own...be careful and safe.
Go down with 4x4 or park on Hana road and walk down really rough road. Amazing view of ocean and the mountains. Water nice bring water shoes it's rocks.
Stopped by Honomanu bay on an adventure around the Northeastern side of Maui. This private little beach had a fairly well maintained dirt access road down to the black sand beach. We were driving a 4 wheel drive vehicle, which handled well. We would not recommend driving down the access road if your vehicle isn’t meant for off-roading, but you can park about a 5minute walk up the hill and enjoy the view at the beach. Even while raining, this was a delightful spot tucked away from many other cars and tourists.
Great stop on your road to Hana experience.
The small road down to the beach park is ridden with potholes so go slow and avoid if possible.
Parking at the end for a few cars and more to the left.
Gorgeous setting for picnic or day use.
Love the palms!
Beautiful beach. Very easy to miss as the road is not clearly marked and no cell service for Google maps.
Would recommend this stop only if you have enough time on road to hana. If you are doing this in a day i will skip it . The beach is ok, road leading to beach has huge pot holes so would not recommend to drive down. You can always park on the main road and walk down.
